Conxemar is the Spanish Association of Wholesalers, Importers, Manufacturers and Exporters of chilled and frozen fish products and Aquaculture with headquarters located in Vigo. The 229 companies within the Association account for the 76% of the total turnover and a 71% of direct job coverage of the Spanish industry. The association represents its members interests at national level from the main office in Vigo and at EU level from Conxemar office in Brussels.   Conxemar is well known internationally due to the worldwide recognized exhibition which bears its name. Besides, it also holds a congress with FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) which has been happening in Vigo since a decade about fisheries and fish products as its backbone. Both events have become a benchmark for professionals, international fisheries administrations, experts and high-level scientists. Vigo is the centre of the fishing activity in Europe. Fishing and its related activities represent a total of 6,000 direct jobs only in the fishing port. On the other hand, its 357 fishing companies have an annual turnover of more than 3,000 M / €. The city also offers a good opportunity to experience at first hand the whole process of the fishing activity, from the shipyards where the big fishing fleets are built to the biggest fresh fish wholesale market in Europe and the main fishing processors in the world. In fact, the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA) headquarter is based in the city, as well as the National Reference Laboratory for Marine Biotoxins and numerous scientific organizations linked to the marine environment. Conxemar will try to get the most of this environment and all of these institutions, involving them in the BAPSI project by developing programs on sustainability and conservation of the marine environment to raise the awareness of the trainees, therefore, allowing the Blue Academy to able to reach the goals of the BAPSI project.
